Your Dental Health During COVID-19

Emergency Dentist in Lexington KentuckyThe coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis is affecting everyone and every business around the world right now. Our patients are under unusually high amounts of stress due to this virus. As your trusted dentistry in Lexington, KY, we want to provide you with essential information on maintaining your dental health during the COVID-19 crisis.

Brush and Floss As Usual

Even though you may be social distancing right now, it’s still important to brush and floss your teeth as usual. Brushing and flossing at least twice a day goes a long way in reducing your chances of costly dental concerns. We do not want to see our patients suffering from the consequences of neglecting their oral health after this crisis subsides.

Because we have discontinued preventive visits, including teeth cleaning and checkups, we need patients to do their part in continuing to care for their teeth. When this crisis subsides, make sure to reschedule your teeth cleaning so we can ensure the health of your smile.

Avoid Sugary Snacks

Sugary snacks are tempting now that most of us find ourselves staying at home. Unfortunately, many of these comfort foods and beverages contain staining agents and leave behind residues on our teeth. Moderation is key during this crisis. Substances like sodas, hard-candies, citrus fruits, coffees, and teas are all known to be tough on your teeth.

Try to avoid them as much as possible, and if you do indulge in them, follow up by brushing and flossing thoroughly. When the sticky residue is left behind on your teeth, it quickly hardens into plaque and tartar which need to be professionally cleaned off by a dentist. That’s why it’s so important that you have a well-balanced diet during this time while we are unable to provide you with preventative care ourselves.
